Planned Giving

The Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation is pleased to offer several planned giving options to Wisconsin Methodists. Find peace of mind through a wide range of tax benefits while helping support churches and Methodist ministries across the state!

Bequests

Creating or updating your will or estate plan? You may be looking for a meaningful way to make a lasting gift that furthers the Wisconsin Methodist mission. We can provide sample language for your will or a letter of instruction for you to use or share with your estate attorney. Contact us to discuss your plans.

Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity is a wonderful way to make a gift to a charitable organization while also receiving lifetime benefits. You transfer cash or property to the Foundation, and in return, we provide fixed payments to you for life—at a rate based on your age.

Donor Advised Funds

By establishing a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), you can recommend charitable gifts during your lifetime and involve your family in giving. When you pass away, your children or other successors can continue your legacy of generosity. You get a tax deduction every time you make or add to a Donor Advised Fund.

Endowment Funds

An endowment is a permanent fund established to meet designated or special needs not covered by current income. It lasts in perpetuity—only the earnings or a percentage of its value are spent each year. The Foundation offers guidance and ideas in our Endowment Brochure and can help you create an endowment that reflects your passion and faith.

Retirement Assets

A gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension, or other tax-deferred plan can be made as a one-time gift and/or used to establish a permanent endowment. If you’re age 70½ or older, you can make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $108,000 per year directly from your IRA. You can also name your church or the Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement assets.

Stock, Bonds, and Mutual Funds

Donating stock or mutual funds is a fee-free, tax-efficient way to make a charitable gift! The Foundation maintains a longstanding trading relationship with Baird, but we also work with other financial institutions (such as Edward Jones or Vanguard) to process gifts. Once the Foundation receives the trade, we issue a tax receipt to you and forward the proceeds to the designated church or other charitable organization.

Start by completing our Securities Transfer Form, and contact us if you’re a new donor or have questions about the process.
