This scholarship program allows Wisconsin United Methodists to assist United Methodist students with the increasing costs of education. A $500 gift to this program will provide an immediate scholarship of $500 to a worthy college or seminary student. A gift of $12,500 will create an endowed scholarship of $500 which can be awarded annually into the foreseeable future. Here’s a great opportunity for you to make a real difference in a young adult’s life.

UMCOR Refugee Response Advance Special #982540

picture

In 2015, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is celebrating 75 years of being with those in crisis around the world! In today’s world, social injustice is sometimes most apparent through the plight of uprooted and displaced people. These people reside in many different displacement situations, ranging from camps to urban slums and makeshift accommodations in countries of asylum – many of which are already struggling with the persistent poverty of their own populations. Refugee Response Advance #982540 supports not only response to initial emergency needs that these vulnerable populations face. This Advance funds and implements projects that support the rights and needs of these persons around the world. For more information on the important work of UMCOR visit their website at www.umcor.org.

Ministers Insurance Memorial Fund (A gift which says we remember)

Earnings from this permanent fund are used each year to help support health insurance for our retired Wisconsin pastors. You may also designate your gift in honor of someone who is still living. We will send an acknowledgement to those persons or their families and a receipt will be sent to you.

Camp Scholarship Fund

Our camp and retreat ministries are about building community, equipping disciples, and modeling care of creation in ways that reflect the love and grace of God. Your scholarship helps a camper build their faith and develop social skills that empower them to reach their full potential.

Bishop’s Relief Fund (A gift allowing our Bishop to reach out)

Gifts to this fund provide Bishop Hee-Soo Jung with a resource to draw upon when he becomes aware of “special needs” which are not funded in the operating budget of the Wisconsin Annual Conference. Your gift gives him freedom to respond.

Imagine No Malaria (A gift that can save a life)

pictureWorldwide, malaria accounts for over 200 million cases every year and kills one person every minute. The disease is a particular risk for pregnant women and young children – and 1 in every 5 children in Africa does not live to their fifth birthday. Malaria continues the cycle of poverty in Africa, burdening communities with an estimated economic impact of over $12 billion every year. And all because of a mosquito bite. Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary effort of the people of The United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths from malaria in Africa. Since the beginning of the Imagine No Malaria campaign in 2008, over $65 million has been raised toward our denominational goal of $75 million by the end of 2015, and our work continues to have an incredible impact. In just the last 6 years, the United Methodist Church and our partner organizations in this historic effort have cut the number of malaria deaths in half. The Wisconsin Conference UMC is getting involved with a commitment to raise $1 million for Imagine No Malaria. Your gift will help to provide bed nets, community-based heath trainings, treatment, and infrastructure to help our brothers and sisters relieve the burden of malaria in their communities. Just $10 provides an insecticide-treated bed net for an African family, $500 provides all the expenses for a community leader training for 35-40 attendees on malaria prevention, and a gift of $5,000 supports a bed net distribution program targeting pregnant women and children in 20 African communities. Together we will save thousands of lives this year.
