Whether your church is looking to raise funds for a major building project or just put on a new roof, the WUMF can assist you. The goal of the Capital Campaign Service of the Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation is to provide any Wisconsin United Methodist congregation with a successful, positive, "faith-centered" campaign at minimum cost. We provide a proven process which is adapted to your church's situation.
We have three options that you may choose from to best suit your congregation. The differences lie mostly in the amount of involvement from the WUMF you desire and the amount needed for capital funds.
OPTION 1: CAPITAL CAMPAIGN: An extensive, all-out Capital Campaign utilizes intense Foundation guidance when trying to raise as much money as possible. This type of campaign may be best for a church that is building new, adding on, embarking on extensive remodeling such as an elevator, entryways and handicap accessible restrooms, starting new missions and ministries, reducing debt, at the end of a current campaign, or any combination. Gifts are typically in pledges of 3 years in addition to upfront gifts. A church can expect to raise more when outside assistance is used. The general expectation for a Capital Campaign is to raise about twice the church’s annual operating budget.
This campaign will have two phases, the Full Pre-Campaign Study, and the Intensive Phase of the Capital Campaign.
OPTION 2: FAITH FUNDS CAMPAIGN: The Faith Funds Campaign is a happy medium between an extensive, all-out capital campaign and a “do-it-yourself” campaign. The Faith Funds Campaign is designed for very focused projects with little debate, such as boilers, roofs, parking lots, retiring debt or follow up to a previous campaign that is ending. Gifts may be in short term pledges in addition to upfront gifts. The Foundation will provide important but partial assistance to your church in a Faith Funds Campaign. A church can expect to raise more money in a campaign when outside assistance is used. The Faith Funds Campaign is designed to raise an amount slightly higher than the gifts received toward the annual operating budget in a year. This campaign will take about three to four months in addition to a Pre-Campaign Study. This campaign will have two phases: either the Full Pre-Campaign Study or the Abbreviated Pre-Campaign Study, and the Intensive Phase of the Faith Funds Capital Campaign.
OPTION 3: MIRACLE SUNDAY CAMPAIGN: Miracle Sunday is much like traditional campaigns except that on the targeted Sunday, donors make an offering of current gifts rather than pledge cards. The Foundation will provide you with a handout that describes the Miracle Sunday program designed by Wayne Barrett. This is a “do-it-yourself” campaign.
The Miracle Sunday campaign may have two phases: either the Full Pre-Campaign Study or the Abbreviated Pre-Campaign Evaluation Study, and the Miracle Sunday Campaign.
