Capital Campaign - Intensive Phase

The second phase of the Capital Campaign is the INTENSIVE PHASE of the Campaign.

After the completion of the Pre-Campaign Study (PCS), plans are made to begin the INTENSIVE PHASE of the Capital Campaign.  With the Foundation staff, the pastor and the church CALENDAR, a rough time line for the campaign is established.  The Pastor is sent detailed JOB DESCRIPTIONS of the 9-12 committee chairs that need to be called into service, beginning with the General Chair(s).  After the committee members are in place, the meetings begin!  Each committee chair is given a detailed MANUAL OF INSTRUCTION which has a step by step process to conduct the campaign.  Letters, publicity ideas, and samples of materials are also included in the Manual.  About six weekly meetings are held to train committee members, plan the campaign events, and motivate and support the committees.

The campaign begins with a KICKOFF EVENT which is planned by the FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE.  This is a big event which includes worship, information about the project and campaign, fellowship and food!  People that attend the Kickoff Event are given a packet of information and other goodies.

If someone cannot be at the Kickoff Event, this packet is brought to the person’s home by the FRONT PORCH DELIVERY COMMITTEE.  People are called by the CALLING COMMITTEE to invite them to the Kickoff Event and the Commitment Worship Service.  These two committees receive special training by the WUMF.

During the weeks following the Kickoff Event, people may be invited to special small group meetings for more information and encouragement.  One of these events may be the ADVANCE GIFT GATHERING, led by the Foundation and the ADVANCE GIFT COMMITTEE.   Rev. Jean Ehnert Nicholas or Rev. Bill Helwig from the WUMF will preach on a Sunday between the Kickoff Event and the Commitment Sunday.

Throughout the campaign the CHILDREN AND YOUTH are made aware of the project and campaign and encouraged to participate in various ways.  The SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS COMMITTEE seeks to keep the campaign focused on the mission and ministry of the project and aims to keep the committees and the congregation grounded in scripture throughout the campaign.  The AUDITOR for the committee records pledges and gifts to the campaign.

People are informed about the project and campaign through many different means as created by the PUBLICITY COMMITTEE.  Any mailings and other printed materials are produced and sent by the PRODUCTION COMMITTEE.  The GENERAL CHAIR(s) oversees the work of and gives guidance to all of the committees.

The Intensive Phase of the Capital Campaign is ideally conducted within six months of the Pre-Campaign Study.  The Intensive Phase will take about four to five months.  The fee to the Foundation for the Intensive Phase, most likely in the range from $15,000 to $26,000, is determined by the annual operating budget.  For this fee your church will, at a minimum, receive:
